Another old tree is cut down

Potchefstroom is a small town with lots of beautiful trees all over town.

All the streets are full of small old houses each with its own character.

Recently they have started to demolish more and more old houses and cut down trees to make way for new student housing areas.

Sad really sad.

Filming lessons

In May 2005 during the Creative Commons visit Brian Quist of Global Griot Productions was asked to film the event - later on he came back to do an interview with Netanya as well.

While he was busy preparing - he showed Adam all about the basics of filming.

Learning commons animation

The Learning commons team decided to use our photo as part of their training material entitled "Copyright, copyleft and everything in between".

Creative Commons day at the cafe (May 2005)

Lawrence Lessig and Heather Ford of Creative Commons visited the cafe a few days before the launch of Creative Commons South Africa.

It was a great day - we discussed a lot of topics around open content, possible use of the Freedom Toaster and ccMixter in South Africa.

The launch of ccSA was a very important day for the OpenCafe since our first ArtMarketOnline artist's book was exhibited during the event - Netanya was one of the first artists in South Africa to publish under a Creative Commons license.

Firedance

Netanya has been the first artist we worked with - we taught her computer skills - helped her set up her own site. We are lucky to have met her - she is an unbelievably creative artist.
